Creative Loafing's 3rd Annual Field Day |

The Wellness Coalition America team competed against 30 co-ed corporate and community groups at Creative Loafing’s 3rd Annual Field Day at Pearl Street Park. The competition included retro games like Dizzy Bat, Musical Chairs, Water Balloon Toss, Rubber Chicken Throw, Wet-n-Wild, Survivor Volleyball, 4 Square, Wheelbarrow/Sack Race and Tug-of-War. drumSTRONG™ |

Wellness Coalition America set up a booth to distribute health information in support of the drumSTRONG™ fundraising event and health fair on May 3rd and 4th. It was held at the Misty Meadows Farm in Weddington, NC. drumSTRONG™ is an event that encourages people of all ages to focus attention on cancer awareness, education, support, and funding for cancer concerns. The founder, Scott Swimmer, said, "We are going to do two things at once. We are going to break the planet’s record for the longest continuous rhythm drum circle ever held, and at the same time, raise awareness and incredible amounts of money for assistance, education, and cures for one of the most nefarious diseases known to man."

9th Annual Oyster Roast |

Wellness Coalition America co-sponsored the 9th Annual Oyster Roast (along with Mimosa Grill, Sponsor Parties, and LKNfun.com) at Wachovia Plaza in uptown Charlotte. Hundreds of people turned out to hear live music from one of Charlotte’s favorite bands, Hot Sauce, and to feast on fresh oysters and shrimp! They also took part in our annual “pick-your-favorite” raffle, bidding on items donated by 40 local businesses. Proceeds from the raffle benefited the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Sales Leadership Council Luncheon |

Terrie Reeves, founder of Wellness Coalition America, was the keynote speaker for the Sales Leadership Council Luncheon. The event was held at the Hilton Executive Park in Charlotte, NC on July 26th. In her speech entitled “Concept to Creation on a Shoestring Budget,” Terrie inspired the crowd to explore ways to launch and successfully develop a concept into a thriving business with no capital.

Terrie Reeves Selected as a 107.9 The Link Leading Lady

We were honored to have an opportunity to share the WCAs mission and vision with 107.9 The Link's radio audience when our founder and president, Terrie Reeves, was selected as a Link Leading Lady. She was invited to be a guest on the Bob and Sheri show, where each month they recognize women in the community who make a difference.

Creative Loafing's 2nd Annual Field Day |

Our team participated in Creative Loafing's Field Day, which challenged area businesses to compete against each other in events such as an obstacle course, relay race, 4-legged race, water balloon toss, eating contest and more! This four-hour festival was held at Pearl Street Park in Charlotte, NC.

WCA's 3rd Anniversary Celebration |

Thursday, May 31, marked a special evening for Wellness Coalition America. More than 500 people joined us at Mac's Speed Shop Restaurant in south Charlotte to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. The event featured a silent auction, great food from Mac's, and live music from the band Simplified. A portion of the proceeds benefited the Center for Colon Cancer Research.

drumSTRONG™ |

On May 5 and 6, 2007, the WCA participated in the first annual drumSTRONG™—a unique, multicultural, musical charity event held in the pastures of Misty Meadows Farm in Weddington, NC. More than 1,000 people of all ages, in various stages of health, participated in the planet’s largest and longest continuous rhythm “drum circle.” They lifted spirits; raised thousands of dollars for cancer education, awareness and research; and established the world record for maintaining rhythm by more people for the longest duration ever. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Levine Children’s Hospital—Hematology/Oncology Center at Carolinas Medical Center and the Lance Armstrong Foundation's LIVESTRONG for cancer research and advocacy. Wachovia’s “Conversation, Connection, Community" |

Wachovia invited WCA founder Terrie Reeves to facilitate a yoga and relaxation session at a women’s event entitled “Conversation, Connection, Community.” This event, which was held at the Ballantyne Resort, brought together a powerful group of women to discuss important issues and current events. Lisa Ling, special correspondent to the Oprah Winfrey show, moderated a panel discussion, after which the women joined smaller groups for lessons in golf, cooking, financial planning, and health and wellness. The event wrapped up with a trip to the Wachovia Championship.

HeartBright Foundation's Champagne Brunch and Fashion Show |

Coalition founder Terrie Reeves was among the local celebrities and wellness advocates who modeled on March 30th at the HeartBright Foundation’s spring Champagne Brunch and Fashion Show. The event raised over $15,000 to benefit HeartBright. The show was held at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Charlotte’s SouthPark area and featured the spring collection from Coplon’s Ladies Fine Clothing and jewelry from David’s Ltd. Guests enjoyed Gosset Brut Excellence Champagne and a lovely brunch featuring broiled Atlantic salmon. Fabulous door prizes included weekend getaways, dazzling jewelry and gift certificates. For the Health of It: Optimizing Wellness |

Wellness Coalition America and Hadassah joined forces to put on a dynamic, educational, interactive event for the public at Temple Israel (across from the Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center in Shalom Park). The keynote speaker for the evening was Terrie Reeves, Coalition founder and president. Other speakers included Dr. Linda Roochvarg, board-certified pediatrician; Shira Capellini, exercise and sports specialist; and Ann Henderson, registered dietitian.

Unmasking Colon Cancer Masquerade Ball |

Terrie Reeves co-hosted the event along with Fred Cunningham, Daybreak Anchor for Upstate South Carolina News Channel 7. The evening featured a silent auction highlighting special items donated by generous and talented artists from around the state. All contributions and proceeds went directly to colon cancer research, education, and screening programs in South Carolina.

HeartBright Foundation's Wine Soiree and Silent Auction |

Members of the Wellness Coalition America team volunteered at the HeartBright Foundation’s annual fundraiser at Bonterra Restaurant in Dilworth. The event began with a reception that included a silent auction, live music and wine tasting. It was followed by a sit-down dinner and live auction of over 93 wines from around the world. Claire and Tom Blocker founded HeartBright in 2003 to increase awareness about cardiovascular disease and its risk factors. Wellness Coalition America and HeartBright are working together in support of each others' missions. Get Involved at the Next One!

NC Conference for Women |

WCA founder Terrie Reeves was invited to participate in a panel presentation titled “Your Inner Strength.” The other panelists included: Debra Gawrych, CEO and founder of Common Boundaries; Mary Tribble, president of Tribble Creative Group; and moderator Patricia M. Crull, vice president and chief learning officer of Time Warner Cable. Together, they gave women advice for tapping into their inner strength to grow and succeed personally and professionally. Elizabeth Edwards’ Book Signing |

Joseph-Beth Booksellers, a Wellness Coalition America platinum sponsor, hosted Elizabeth Edwards for a book signing of her newly-released memoir, Saving Graces. Mrs. Edwards read passages from her book and answered questions about her personal saving graces. She talked about the friends and extended community of strangers who reached out to her during her battle with breast cancer and after the sudden death of her 16-year-old son, Wade. Joseph-Beth is donating 10% of the proceeds from the book to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. In support of the foundation’s mission, WCA distributed educational material on breast cancer prevention and awareness at the book signing. View Photos From This Event
