6/19: Grove Park Inn Employee Health Fair

Each year, GPI invites local health-related non-profits, hospitals, doctors offices, wellness programs, etc. to present information to their employees about wellness.  The Wellness Coalition and Primary PhysicianCare provided employees with educational materials as well as answered questions about their insurance plan. The employees competed in ping-pong and bocce tournaments to win prizes. They also participated in a friendly fitness and weight-loss competition.  The team that showed the most improvement won a cash prize.

6/14: Gaston County "Wellness at Work" Seminar
The WCA team delivered a presentation at the Gaston Chamber of Commerce on workplace wellness trends and emerging best practices.  We also outlined the role Wellness Coalition America is playing in helping companies to implement workplace wellness programs.  Fifteen of Gaston County’s largest employers attended the seminar.
6/5: Sunbelt Rental Vendorfest

Sunbelt Rental holds Vendorfest annually as an opportunity for suppliers to exhibit their products to Sunbelt’s Profit Center, Regional and District Managers.  Amanda Allen and Cindy Rutherford attended as representatives of Wellness Coalition America.  The event kicked off with a welcome dinner on Tuesday evening.  Sunbelt employees interacted with vendors and attended training sessions each day.  On Wednesday night, everyone enjoyed a barbecue with entertainment provided by 38 Special and Peter Frampton.  Vendorfest closed on Thursday night with dinner served by the Opryland staff and live entertainment.  Cindy Rutherford said, “The event was certainly a success for us.  We were able to get in front of the people we serve and encourage them to practice wellness inside and outside of the workplace.  I’m really looking forward to Vendorfest 2008!“

May 2007

Rodgers Builders

During the month of May, we kicked off a new onsite wellness program at Rodgers Builders in Charlotte, Greenville, Winston-Salem, and Wilmington.  Employees were very excited about the new program, which includes reimbursements for smoking cessation products.  Employees filled out Employee Interest Surveys and WCA will use them to tailor the program to their needs.

5/22: ESP

Jason Boudrie of AIM Fitness joined the WCA team in kicking off a 12-week onsite exercise program at ESP.  Our objective was to encourage employees to exercise and to make it more convenient.  The program will measure and track before and after results such as weight, inches, fitness level (push-ups and sit-ups), and tie these measurements to the employees’ screening results.

The company’s new 5-week onsite educational series kicked off on May 1.  It included classes on diabetes, coronary artery disease, and total body wellness. Attendance was great and employees were very enthusiastic about what they learned.   They all received WCA gym bags filled with goodies.  Those who attended the diabetes and CAD classes will qualify for a prescription incentive program.
