Dear Friends of the Coalition, These days it’s easy to get lost in the chaos of busy schedules and economic woes and totally lose sight of our blessings. Fortunately, if we make it a priority, this time of year gives us a perfect opportunity to refocus. That's why our theme this month, “Celebrate What Matters Most,” highlights executive coach Joan Wright’s thought-provoking article on living a life of significance. We hope it will encourage you to approach the New Year with a healthy new perspective.
In addition, we talk with Lynn Evans, a licensed clinical social worker, about the challenges faced by great numbers of Americans who grew up in households with alcoholic parents. Danielle Messick outlines the steps for maintaining our brains; and Shira Capellini shares the good news about carbs.
For parents, we have tips for teaching children to develop an attitude of gratitude; and for everyone, some thoughtful gift ideas that convey your appreciation for the people you love.
We wrap with reminders to keep exercise on your to-do list throughout the holiday season, and three delicious recipes that will put your leftover turkey to good use in the days ahead.
