Advances in Breast Imaging
While mammograms have long been credited as an important tool in the early discovery of breast cancers, digital mammography makes early detection more likely.

Medical Myths: Mammography
Various misconceptions cause women to avoid mammography, which is a potentially life-saving screening. Here are some of the most common myths and some facts to set the record straight.

Men's Health Screenings
Many of the health risks facing men are preventable and treatable if identified early. That's why it's so important to know what preventative screenings you need and when to have them.

Fitness in Your Fifties (Your Forties Too): Staying Connected to Others

The Value of Screening
What is screening? Who should have it? When should it be done? How often? Screening is checking for a disease when no symptoms are present. An additional goal of screening is to identify those conditions which are present that may indicate an early stage or precursor to a known disease.

Screening for Heart Health
Cardiovascular disease (CVD), which includes heart attack and stroke, is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 800,000 people died from CVD in 2004--the most recent year statistics are available.

Keep Your Heart Healthy: Know Your Numbers!
What is blood pressure? Why are there two numbers? When the left ventricle (the main pumping chamber of the heart) contracts, its squeeze generates a pressure that drives blood forward. The peak or highest pressure generated is the systolic blood pressure. The pressure within the blood vessels then slowly falls as blood flows downstream until the next cycle of heart contractions. The lowest blood pressure before this next wave of blood comes is called the diastolic blood pressure.
