Primary PhysicianCare Raises the Bar on Corporate Wellness Standards
Charlotte, NC, June 27, 2006 -- Primary PhysicianCare, a 29-year-old Charlotte-based company and leader in innovative responses to healthcare management, will launch two initiatives this week that will raise the bar on corporate wellness standards.
Health and Wellness Summit
The first is a “Health and Wellness Summit” where executives from companies throughout the region can learn how to shop for and implement wellness programs. They will see firsthand how these programs ultimately result in lower healthcare costs, higher productivity, reduced absenteeism and, most importantly, healthier employees.
The summit will be held at Pfeiffer University, 4701 Park Road, Charlotte, on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Keynote speakers are Dr. Linda Roochvarg, Medical Director for Healthgram, Primary PhysicianCare’s proprietary software platform; and Terrie Reeves, President and Founder of the Carolina Wellness Coalition.
Dr. Roochvarg will review the sobering statistics about the poor state of Americans’ health and about the continuously escalating costs of care. She will underline the fact that 50 to 70% of all diseases not only have modifiable health risks, but they may be preventable. Dr. Roochvarg then will introduce the benefits of implementing a comprehensive disease management program, and she will outline the six components that the Disease Management Association of America describes as necessary for a DM program to be considered “full service.”
Robert Salton, Primary’s Chief Information Officer, will join Dr. Roochvarg in demonstrating the way Primary meets and exceeds these requirements with a proprietary web-based software platform called Healthgram. It allows us to use six different sources to identify people for DM (most other companies use just two sources); plus it gives all of our medical staff access to the same evidence-based practice guidelines as well as patient information, whether they are counseling a patient on-site or conducting a telephonic intervention.
Terrie Reeves, founder of the Carolina Wellness Coalition, will give guests a simple strategy for successfully implementing a corporate wellness program. She will also share how her organization has joined forces with Primary in expanding and enhancing our corporate wellness initiative. This includes a broad spectrum of wellness and prevention management tools such as: onsite health fairs, seminars, an extensive library of articles and videos on health and wellness, a speaker’s bureau, the Operation Jump-Start program, a monthly e-magazine, and much more.
Primary PhysicianCare’s New Corporate Wellness Program
David Tate, CEO of Primary PhysicianCare, believes in leading by example. So this Thursday, he is launching a four-month corporate wellness program to motivate his 120 employees to lose weight, stop smoking, get in shape and learn to lead healthier lifestyles.
Employees will be screened at the beginning and end of the program to gauge their success – individually and as a group. The screenings will consist of blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and triglycerides measurements; health risk and lifestyle assessments; and fitness profiles.
Primary PhysicianCare is offering a number of incentives to employees who participate, including discounts for health insurance and even a day off!
To launch the program, the company is holding a kickoff luncheon at noon on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at 1515 Mockingbird Lane (in the Park Seneca Building across from Pfeiffer University on Park Road; check in with the receptionist on the 3rd floor).
The media is invited to attend both of these events. For more information and to arrange interviews with corporate executives and keynote speakers, please call April Slappey, 704-525-7352, Ext. 3403; cell 704-241-2559.
